MEXT Schoarships

Monbukagakusho, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT), offers six different scholarships for non-Japanese nationals wishing to study in Japan. The following four scholarships are available to apply at the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver. Please check the link below for application guidelines and application procedure, and screening schedules.  Interviews and examinations are conducted at our office.

  1. Research Students
  2. Special Training College (Senshu-Gakko) Students
  3. Undergraduate University Students
  4. Japanese Studies Students

ONLY U.S. CITIZENS LIVING IN COLORADO, UTAH, WYOMING, AND NEW MEXICO MAY APPLY THROUGH THIS CONSULATE.

US citizens living in other states should apply through the consulate responsible for their state. (See also: MOFA website - Embassies, Consulates, Permanent Missions Overseas North America )

Non-US citizens should apply through the Japanese Embassy in their country of citizenship.

Applications for 2018 Japanese Studies Students scholarship have closed. Applications were due by 5pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

The following MEXT Scholarship applications for 2018 are now closed. Applications were due by Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Next cycle applications will be open in April, 2018.
