Consul General Ito paid a courtesy visit to New Mexico Governor Suzana Martinez on Thursday, June 18, 2015.
The Consul General expressed his intention to contribute to strengthening the relationship between Japan and New Mexico, as well as U.S.-Japan relations, which is further deepened by Japanese Prime Minister Abe’s visit to the United States and the revising of Japan-US Security Guideline. In addition to strengthening economic relations, he said he would also like to promote cultural and academic exchanges.
In response, Governor Martinez said New Mexico has a rich diversity of ethnic groups and is very active in cultural and art activities, while also moving forward in developing research for renewable energy. She said in the future she wishes to further expand New Mexico's export to Japan and strengthen cooperation in the fields of academic and cultural exchange, and renewable energy.
