[EVENT INFO] The Visit of Shigaraki Ceramic Master Potters to Colorado (September 13, 2019)

     In cooperation with the Consulate General of Japan in Denver and Denver Art Museum, Shigaraki Ceramic Master Potters Rakusai Takahashi V and VI will visit Denver, Colorado and give a lecture followed by a reception at the Denver Art Museum on Friday, September 13, 2019.

     The town of Shigaraki—birthplace of Shigaraki Ceramics and home to one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan—will also be the setting for the 101st daytime television series aired by NHK in Japan. The series will begin airing on September 30th. 
(As one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan, Shigaraki Ceramics was designated as a Japan Heritage in 2017.)

     Through their visits here in Colorado, it is expected to increase the understanding of local people about the Japanese traditional culture as well as its multi-generational ceramic tradition.
