On Saturday, February 29, 2020, Consul General Takeuchi attended the Japan-U.S. Military Program (JUMP) event cohosted by the Japan America Society of Southern Colorado and Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA, at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and delivered her congratulatory remarks. Around 100 people attended the JUMP event including servicemen and women who were stationed in Japan and cadets and officers of U.S. Air Force Academy.

In her remarks, Consul General Takaeuchi highlighted that the Japan-U.S. alliance remains integral for peace and stability in the region on the 60th anniversary of the Japan U.S. Security Treaty, and conveyed her sincere gratitude for U.S military assistance during Operation Tomodachi after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011.

Lt. General John L. Doran, former Commander of the US Forces in Japan, delivered the keynote remarks on the history of Japan-U.S. alliance and an outline of Japan-U.S. defense cooperation followed by a Q and A session with the cadets. A taiko drum performance by Denver Taiko highlighted the JUMP event, which was an excellent opportunity for exchanges for all participants.
