Foreign Minister’s Commendation Award Ceremony for the Denver Takayama Sister City Committee (August 19, 2020)

     On Wednesday, August 19th, Consul-General Takeuchi hosted an award ceremony at the Consul-General’s Residence for the Denver Takayama Sister City Committee that received the Foreign Minister’s Commendation on July 29th.

     Consul-General Takeuchi explained that since the establishment of the sister city relationship in 1960, both cities have contributed greatly toward the promotion of friendly relations between Japan and the U.S. and promoting understanding about Japan within the U.S. through active people-to-people exchange, and on the special occasion of the 60th anniversary, the Takayama Denver Friendship Association along with the Denver Takayama Sister City Committee were awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendation. Committee Chair Steve Comstock expressed his elation on both cities being able to celebrate 60 years of sister city relations, and that both sides will continue to work toward further strengthening the relationship in the future. 

<Note> The Foreign Minster’s Commendation is awarded to recognize the achievements of individuals and groups that have made significant contributions toward promoting friendly relations between Japan and other countries, and to request understanding and support for those efforts from all Japanese citizens.
