Japan America Society of Colorado Annual Gala 2022: The Consulate-General of Japan attended (October 12, 2022)

On Wednesday, October 12th, the 2022 Japan America Society of Colorado Annual Gala was held at Mile High Station, an event venue in Denver.


Executive Director Claudine Lacascio introduced the participants and sponsors. Mr. Susumu Takeuchi, the General Manager of Sumitomo Corporation of Americas’ Denver Office, gave a speech. Sumitomo Corporation of Americas was the presenting sponsor of the Gala.


Following the opening remarks by JASC President, Inta Morris, Executive Director Derek Okubo, Agency for Human Rights and Community Partnerships, City and County of Denver, delivered a speech about the relationship of the Mayor, Michael Hancock, who was unexpectedly absent due to work, with Takayama City in Japan. A video message from Mayor Hancock was played, followed by remarks by Deputy Mayor Happy Haynes.


Many people, including members of JASC, state and local government officials, representatives of various organizations, and local business people, participated in the event. “Iaido” demonstration and “Kimono” show were presented at the stage with explanation, and some beautiful “Kimono” were displayed in the venue. People also enjoyed “Sake” and “Shochu” tasting, making the gala a very successful gathering. The Consulate-General of Japan was also invited, and the Consul-General Yoichi Mikami and others attended.
