On Saturday, April 29th, the 14th Annual "Nihon Matsuri" was held in Salt Lake City



The opening ceremony was moderated by Mr. Mori, Nihon Matsuri committee chair, and included remarks from former Utah State Senator Iwamoto; Ms. Dicaro, Director of Planning and Budget at the Governor's Office; Mayor Mendenhall, Salt Lake City Mayor; State Representative Leser, House District 10; City Councilman Mano, Salt Lake City District 5; and others.
The "Nihon Matsuri" featured many Japanese performances, events, and cultural experiences, including, but not limited to: karaoke, martial arts, Japanese food booths, musical performances, tea ceremonies, and a children's booth that offered a craft. There was also an exhibition on the history of the Japanese American.
The Consulate-General of Japan was invited. Consul-General Mikami attended the event, greeted the guests, and participated in the tea ceremony. He also enjoyed the various performances.
It turned out to be a wonderful Nihon Matsuri with beautiful weather for the many people who visited.
