The 77th Annual Community Memorial Day Service for Japanese-American Veterans (May 29, 2023)



On Monday, May 29, the 77th Annual Community Memorial Day Service for Japanese-American Veterans occurred at Fairmount Cemetery in Denver.
The memorial service is held every year in May on Memorial Day in honor of Japanese-American Veterans who were members of military units organized during World War II. The memorial service is held by Nisei Veterans Heritage Foundation, Simpson United Methodist Church, Tri-State/Denver Buddist Temple, and community volunteers. About 150 people, including Mr. Calvin Hada, Former President of the Nikkeijin-Kai of Colorado, as well as members of Japan American Society of Colorado, and Japanese-American veterans and their families, attended the ceremony.
Consulate-General of Japan in Denver was also invited and Consul-General Mikami and Consul Furutani attended.
