“Nan Des Kan (NDK) 26” held in Colorado (September 1-3, 2023)

“The Nan Des Kan (NDK) 26” was held from September 1st to 3rd at Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora, Colorado.

This year marked the 26th anniversary of the Nan Desu Kan, an annual anime convention which started in 1997. It has grown to be the largest anime convention in the Rocky Mountain region. Special guests included voice actors/actresses and university professors who also served as panelists. This year, the number of attendees reached 12,000. At the convention, there were panels, video screenings, various vendors, a cosplay competition, and an itasha exhibition (anime painted cars / motorcycles).

The Consulate-General was invited. Consul-General MIKAMI Yoichi gave remarks at the opening ceremony on the 1st, and Consul FURUTANI Keiko gave a lecture on the Consulate-General of Japan, and participated as a judge in the cosplay contest on the 2nd. The Consulate-General of Japan in Denver also set up a Japan booth jointly with JETAA, and many people visited the booth.
