Brighton Japanese-American Association (BJAA) 75th Anniversary Celebration (November 18, 2023)

On November 18, the 75th anniversary of the Brighton Japanese-American Association (BJAA) was held in Brighton, Colorado.

 

The event was opened with remarks by Chris Horiuchi, BJAA President, who also was the emcee. Joyce Phillips and Phyllis Nakagawa explained the activities of the Brighton Nisei Women's Club. A video reviewing the 75-year history of the BJAA was shown. There was also a performance by the Minyo Kai, which is a Japanese folk song group, a performance by Denver Taiko drummers, and dancing by those in attendance.


Many BJAA members, as well as Brighton Mayor Gregory Mills and Colorado Nikkeijin Kai President Glenn Tagawa, among others, attended the commemorative event, making it very successful.


The Consulate-General of Japan was also invited, and Consul-General MIKAMI Yoichi attended.
