47th Denver Red vs White Singing Contest (January 27, 2024) 

On Saturday, January 27, the 47th Denver Red vs White Singing Contest was held at the Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple (TS/DBT).


The Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple, Nikkeijinkai of Colorado, and Uta Gassen Executive Committee co-sponsored the event, and volunteer’s efforts also made it possible.


Opening remarks were made by Mr. Seiji Tanaka, Chairperson of the Executive Committee. Greetings were followed by Mr. Wayne Berve, Past Co-President of TS/DBT, Reverend Nariaki Hayashi of the TS/DBT, and Glenn Tagawa, President of the Nikkeijinkai of Colorado. Then, Hiromi Mochizuki, the MC, introduced the judges to the audience.


The singing contest began with the Red Team captain, Eriko MonLouis, and the White Team captain, Tomoharu Yoshida.


Many people visited and enjoyed the singing contest. The Red Team won this year. Mr. Yoichi Mikami, Consul-General of Japan in Denver, presented the Red Team captain with the championship trophy. Mr. Kazuya Nagano, President of JBAR (Japanese Business Association of the Rockies) presented the Red Team with gifts.


Some members of the Consulate-General participated in the contest as singers as well as a judge.


The 47th Singing Contest was a great success and many people enjoyed it.
