"Nihon Matsuri" was held in Salt Lake City (Saturday, April 27, 2024)






On Saturday, April 27, the "Nihon Matsuri" was held in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The opening ceremony was moderated by Mr. Floyd Mori, Nihon Matsuri chair, and included remarks from former Utah State Senator Jani Iwamoto, Ms. Dicaro, Director of Planning and Budget at the Governor's Office, Mayor Erin Mendenhall, Salt Lake City Mayor; Salt Lake City Council Chair, Victoria Petro, Salt Lake City Council Member Eva Lopez Chavez, Salt Lake City Council Member Darin Mano, and others.
The "Nihon Matsuri" featured many booths including Japanese food, and Japanese performances on the stage. There were also panel displays on the history of Japanese-Americans in Utah, ikebana and kimono displays, tea ceremony, and more. Many people visited the "Nihon Matsuri" and enjoyed the event.
The Consulate-General of Japan was also invited, and Consul FURUTANI Keiko attended the event, gave remarks, and participated in the tea ceremony.
