2024 Amache Special Program and 2024 Amache Pilgrimage (May 17-18, 2024)






On May 17-18, the 2024 Amache Special Program and 2024 Amache Pilgrimage were held at the Amache Camp Site in Granada, Colorado. Many Japanese-Americans were interned in the Amache Camp during WWII.
On May 17, the 2024 Amache Special Program was held. Senator Michael Bennet, former Federal Senator and Congressman, and National Park Service officials made remarks at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The 2024 Amache Pilgrimage followed on May 18. The Pilgrimage is held every year in May to honor and remember people who died in the camp as well as soldiers who lost their lives in WWII. Several hundred people, not only from Colorado but also from other states, attended the Pilgrimage.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Denver was invited and Consul-General Mikami and Consul Furutani attended.
