Mile High Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) Hosts the “Day of Remembrance 2025” (February 16, 2025)

On Saturday, February 16th, the Mile High Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) hosted the “Day of Remembrance 2025” at the History Colorado Center in Denver, which was attended by Consul-General Hiroyuki Okajima. The Day of Remembrance is held annually to remember the many Japanese Americans who were forcibly evicted and relocated to internment camps as a result of Executive Order 9066 during World War II.
After opening remarks by Mile High JACL President Dylan Mori, Dr. Gwen Jensen, an expert in medical anthropology and oral history, spoke about the living and medical conditions of the camps and their mental and physical effects on the Nikkeijin. In addition, a documentary film was shown, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session.
