Annual “Nihon Matsuri” Japan Festival Held in Salt Lake City, Utah (April 25, 2025)




On Saturday, April 25th, the annual “Nihon Matsuri” Japan Festival was held on Japantown Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The opening ceremony was attended by Floyd Mori, Chairman of the Japan Festival Committee, and representatives of the Japanese Christian Church, the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple, and the Utah and Salt Lake City governments and legislatures.
The Japan Festival featured a variety of booths, such as Japanese food sellers, and stage performances such as taiko drumming and sumo wrestling. The festival also featured panel displays on the history of Japanese Americans in Utah and the Japantown redevelopment project, ikebana and kimono exhibits, and a tea ceremony experience, attracting many visitors.
The Consulate-General was also invited, and Consul-General Okajima gave a speech at the opening ceremony.
