Reception to Celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the Denver-Takayama Sister City Relationship (June 23, 2025)







On Monday, June 23rd, Consul-General Okajima hosted a reception at his official residence to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Denver, Colorado and Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture.
A delegation from Takayama attended the reception, including Mayor Akira Tanaka, Osamu Hirakawa, President of the Takayama Denver Friendship Association, and Hisamichi Ito, President of the Takayama City Council. Also in attendance were Martín González, Manager of the Denver Department of Economic Development & Opportunities, representing the City of Denver, and Susan Weller, President of the Denver-Takayama Committee, as well as other committee members.
After opening remarks by representatives of Denver and Takayama, attendees enjoyed each other’s company and friendly conversations. The Consulate-General of Japan in Denver is grateful for this remarkable relationship and wishes for the continued development of exchange between the two cities.
