89th Annual Obon Festival Held in Salt Lake City (July 12, 2025)

On Saturday, July 12th, the 89th Annual Obon Festival, sponsored by the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple, was held at Salt Lake City’s Japantown Street.

The festival featured taiko performances, Bon Odori dancing, and more. Blessed with fine weather, the festival was attended by more than 500 Salt Lake City locals, children and adults alike, who enjoyed the traditional dancing. There were also multiple rehearsals of the Bon Odori dance in preparation for the main event.

The Consulate-General of Japan was invited to the event, and Vice Consul Zaitsu attended.
