Autumn Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico (September 28, 2025)

2025/10/8

On September 28th, the “Aki Matsuri” Autumn Festival was held in Albuquerque, organized by the New Mexico Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL). Throughout the day, two stages featured performances of Japanese culture, including dance, taiko drumming, and martial arts. The venue was lively with numerous stands and workshop booths, attracting approximately 10,000 visitors.

Consul Sanae Kanno from the Consulate-General attended and interacted with many participants. The day before, she visited the cultural center that the New Mexico JACL chapter purchased last year and is currently renovating. We eagerly anticipate the official opening of this cultural center, a long-held dream of the Japanese American community.
