Visit to Japan Town Street in Salt Lake City, Utah and Discussions with the Japanese American Community (September 29, 2025)

On September 29th, Consul Sanae Kanno visited Japan Town Street in Salt Lake City, Utah, and toured the Japanese Church of Christ and Salt Lake Buddhist Temple. The church and temple members shared stories about the vibrant days of the former Japanese district and ongoing redevelopment plans.

Moreover, valuable discussions were held with representatives from the three Utah chapters of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) and participants of the Kakehashi Project. We hope that the history and traditions of the Japanese American community in Utah will be preserved and passed on to younger generations.
