Presentation of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Mr. Glenn Minoru Tagawa, President of Nikkeijin Kai of Colorado (November 4, 2025)

On Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, a ceremony was held at the Consul-General's official residence to present the 2025 Foreign Minister’s Commendation. Consul-General Hiroyuki Okajima presented a certificate of commendation and a supplementary award to Glenn Minoru Tagawa, President of the Nikkeijin Kai of Colorado. After the presentation of the certificate and the prize, Mr. Tagawa gave a speech. His nephew, Mr. Brandon Fukutome, gave a toast that included remarks on how Mr. Tagawa created a space for young Japanese Americans when they faced difficult times regarding their identity and restored the pride of being Japanese American. A big applause filled the room as acknowledgements and congratulations were given to Mr. Tagawa’s achievements and contributions to promoting mutual understanding between Japan and the United States.


The purpose of the Foreign Minister's Commendation is to honor individuals and organizations that have made particularly significant contributions to the promotion of goodwill between Japan and other countries through activities in various fields of international relations, and to ask the public at large to further recognize and support their activities.
