2025/11/24

The 38th Colorado Japanese Speech Contest was held in Denver on Saturday, November 15th in a lively and festive atmosphere. Co-hosted by our Consulate and the Colorado Japanese Language Education Association (CJLEA), the contest brought together many Japanese language learners from the elementary school through university levels from across Colorado, each proudly presenting the results of their hard work and studies.

The event began with opening remarks from Ms. Hisako Shibli, President of the CJLEA, followed by words of encouragement for the participants and appreciation for all involved from Consul-General Hiroyuki Okajima. The head judge, Professor Emerita Joan Ericson of Colorado College, provided warm and insightful feedback to each contestant, supporting their growth and motivation.

Filled with energy, smiles, and enthusiastic applause, this year’s contest once again showcased an impressive level of Japanese proficiency. We are delighted that the Speech Contest continues to serve as a valuable opportunity for learning and exchange among students, educators, families, and the wider community. We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to making this event possible.
