Consul-General Okajima Visits Tagawa Greenhouses (November 24, 2025)

On November 24th, Consul-General Okajima visited Tagawa Greenhouses in Brighton, Colorado.
Tagawa Greenhouses was established in 1967 and run by the Tagawa family, who had originally worked in agriculture in California before World War II. After experiencing incarceration at Amache (Granada Relocation Center), the family resettled in Colorado and founded the business. During the visit, Consul-General Okajima viewed valuable photographs depicting the company’s history and observed the planting and shipping operations at the greenhouses.
Overcoming many hardships, the Tagawa family has made significant contributions to local agriculture and the community. Today, as one of Colorado’s leading commercial greenhouses, Tagawa Greenhouses provides high-quality flowers and plants, while also supporting the region through employment and horticultural education.
This visit was a meaningful opportunity to reflect once again on the history and contributions of Japanese Americans in Colorado.
