Japan Cup Hosted by the Japan America Society of Colorado (April 18th, 2026)

On Saturday, April 18, the Japan America Society of Colorado (JASC) hosted the 2026 Japan Cup at Front Range Community College. This event is an academic competition in which high school and college students—primarily competing in teams of three—answer questions spanning a wide range of topics related to the Japanese language and culture.
This year, 160 students from 11 schools participated, demonstrating their knowledge of and passion for Japan through the many rounds and levels of competition. We were deeply impressed by the contestants’ earnest attitude and effort towards understanding Japan and Japanese, exemplified by their ability to quickly answer questions that would puzzle even native Japanese people.
Consul-General Okajima presented trophies to winning teams from each level during the event’s award ceremony, while Deputy Consul-General Takayama acted as a judge during the final rounds. We hope that the participants, as well as those who support them, will continue to pursue their interest in Japan and play a great role in fostering friendly relations between the people of Japan and the United States in the years to come.
