Meeting with Mr. Shingo Ishida and Ms. Catherine Higbee Ishida (May 5, 2026)

On May 5, Consul-General Okajima welcomed Mr. Shingo Ishida, Program Director of Operations at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, and Ms. Catherine Higbee Ishida, Assistant Director for Japan and Korea Projects at the Program for Teaching East Asia, University of Colorado Boulder, to the Consul-General’s Residence for an engaging discussion.

Both Mr. and Ms. Ishida are alumni of the JET Program and, in addition to their respective professional roles, have been actively contributing to various Japanese communities in Colorado—including the Sakura Foundation and the Japan America Society of Colorado—for many years.

Our conversation covered a wide range of topics. We were once again deeply impressed by the couple’s profound understanding of and warm affection for Japan, as well as their dedicated support for the local Japanese community. We would like to express our sincere respect and gratitude for their continued contributions.
