2026 Heart Mountain Pilgrimage (July 23-25, 2026)

From Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, July 25, the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation (HMWF) organized a pilgrimage at the site of the Heart Mountain incarceration camp in Wyoming, where people of Japanese descent were incarcerated during World War II.

Over the course of three days, the pilgrimage featured tours of the exhibitions at the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, which was established on the camp site, and the camp grounds themselves, alongside various lectures and workshops that highlighted daily life in the camp and the actions taken to defend rights.

Ambassador Shigeo Yamada and Consul-General Hiroyuki Okajima attended the pilgrimage. They toured the site and made exchanges with HMWF members, pilgrims, and local supporters. Ambassador Yamada also delivered remarks at the ceremony on the 25th.
