Sister City Exchange Project between Fujiyoshida City and Colorado Springs City (July 26 – August 4, 2026)

This summer, Fujiyoshida City in Yamanashi Prefecture and Colorado Springs City in Colorado are approaching the milestone 65th anniversary of their sister city partnership. Recently, eleven junior high school students from Fujiyoshida City visited Colorado Springs. On July 31, a potluck party hosted by the Japan-America Society of Southern Colorado (JASSC) was held, where many citizens, host families, and volunteers gathered to deepen Japan-U.S. friendship. From the Consulate-General, Consul Kanno attended and interacted with the participants.
The Japanese students participated in various programs, including homestays and cultural exchange events. On August 4, together with students from Ueda City, they made a courtesy visit to the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver, where Consul-General Okajima explained the activities of the consulate and its initiatives in the Rocky Mountain Region.
Through exchanges between citizens and students of both cities, we hope that the young people who will lead the next generation will deepen their international understanding, and that the friendship between the two cities will continue to develop further as they approach the major milestone of their 65th anniversary.
