Visit to Japanese American Art Special Exhibition in Santa Fe, New Mexico (September 28, 2026)

On September 28, 2026, Consul-General Hiroyuki Okajima visited the special exhibition, "Reclaiming the Future: The Legacy of Japanese American Incarceration," currently being held at the New Mexico Museum of Art Vladem Contemporary in Santa Fe. This special exhibition features diverse works by ten Japanese and Japanese American artists, focusing on the history and impact of Japanese American incarceration.
The exhibition presents artworks that symbolize the experiences in the camps, family memories, as well as themes of freedom and hope, inviting visitors to reflect on historical backgrounds and contemporary social issues.
Consul-General Okajima exchanged views with a director of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and museum representatives while fully appreciating the meaningful exhibition. The special exhibition is open until May 31, 2027. We encourage everyone to visit!
