Special Advisor Ito to the Minister of the Cabinet Office and Delegation Visited Colorado(August 17-19, 2015)

On Tuesday, August 18th, Special Advisor Ito to the Minister of the Cabinet Office in Japan visited the ongoing redevelopment project of Union Station and received a briefing on the progress of the station and surrounding area redevelopment from Mr. Ferd Belz, Senior Vice President of L.C. Fulenwider, Inc.
On the same day, Special Advisor Ito also paid a courtesy visit to Governor Hickenlooper and participated in an opinion exchange on the Governor’s role and leadership in Denver’s redevelopment process and future plans of Denver and Colorado.
In addition, Special Advisor Ito visited Techstars, Inc. in Boulder. The special advisor received an explanation of the company’s efforts to support entrepreneurs from Mr. Daniel Feld, Vice President of Operations and Mr. Kevin Tapply, Vice President of Business Development, and engaged in an opinion exchange on supporting start-up companies. Also, Special Advisor Ito met with Mr. Paul Washington, Executive Director of the Denver City Office of Economic Development and others to partake in an opinion exchange regarding the City of Denver’s efforts on urban revitalization.
In the afternoon, Special Advisor Ito visited Terumo BCT in Lakewood where he received an overview of the company and explanation of the company’s efforts in innovation from President and CEO Mr. David E. Perez, and also participated in a tour. Later, Special Advisor Ito met with VISIT DENVER Vice President of Tourism Ms. Jayne Buck, Colorado Tourism Office Director of International Marketing & PR Mr. Michael Driver, and DIA Executive Vice President Mr. Eric Hiraga who are involved in tourism promotion, to exchange opinions on tourism policies.
On Thursday, August 19th, Special Advisor Ito toured the currently under construction DIA hotel and convention center that annexes the airport, the RTD commuter rail station that will connect DIA and Downtown Denver, and at the end received a briefing on the current status of development by DIA Senior Vice President of Hotel and Transit Center Mr. Stu Williams.
