Consul General Ito Visited the State of Utah (August 26, 2015)

On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, Consul General Ito visited Salt Lake City, Utah and paid a courtesy visit to Governor Gary Herbert and attended the 2nd Annual Utah Global Forum.
During the courtesy visit, Consul General Ito said that this year marks 70th year after the end of the war and Japan-America relations are more important than ever, and he wishes to strengthen economic relations between Japan and the State of Utah, especially in attracting Japanese businesses, as well as to enhance cultural and academic exchanges. In response, Governor Herbert said that the State of Utah and Japan share common spiritual cores in that both have business-friendly environment, both put an emphasis on entrepreneurship, and both are family-orientated culture. As a result, he feels a friendliness toward Japan and greatly wishes to cooperate with the Consulate.
The Consul General also attended the 2nd Annual Utah Global Forum that was held in Salt Lake City. Inside the hall, he met Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox and had a brief standing chat where he expressed his wish to strengthen relations between Japan and the State of Utah.
The forum focused on national and international business development. After presentations from representatives of different fields, Governor Herbert delivered the featured speech in which he stated that while the State of Utah should focus on international business, he also wants to put effort into attracting direct investment to the State of Utah.
