On Friday, February 12, 2016, the Longmont Museum opened an origami-inspired art exhibit called "Above the Fold: New Expressions in Origami". Following the Mayor's greeting, Consul-General Ito offered a few words in which he mentioned that origami—one of Japan's most traditional art forms—has gone beyond boarders and become popular in many foreign countries including the U.S.. He also stated that it is an interesting modern-art exhibit that introduces the most recent origami-inspired artworks by American and foreign artists alike.
