On Thursday, March 3rd, a pre-event for the Samurai Exhibition that opens to the public on March 6th was held at the Denver Art Museum (DAM). Approximately 150 people attended the event including Mr. Christoph Heinrich, Director of DAM and museum supporters.
After several remarks from Director Heinrich and others, Consul General Ito introduced Samurai culture—including about the armor—and how it flourished for a long period in Japanese history, and also the very deep meaning it possesses from being developed with Buddhist and Zen influences. Consul General Ito also said he hopes everyone can gain a deeper understating of Japanese culture and history through the Samurai exhibition.
