Reporting Session by Participant from Japanese American Leadership Delegation (April 7, 2016)

On Thursday, April 7, 2016, a reporting session was held at the Consul-General's Official Residence for Mr. Eric Hiraga, President of the Japan America Society of Colorado (JASC) and Executive Vice President of Denver International Airport who participated in the FY2015 Japanese American Leadership Delegation. In addition, CEO of Sakura Square LLC Gary Yamashita and affiliates from the US-Japan Council Rocky Mountain Chapter also presented their reports.
President Hiraga visited Kobe and Tokyo and used pictures to explain details about the program. He said through the program he feels proud to be Japanese-American and wishes to further contribute to the strengthening of Japan-America relations.
CEO Yamashita attended a conference held at the Embassy of Japan in December, 2015. He said Colorado possesses all of the important elements discussed at the conference that contribute to strong ties between Japan and the U.S. and that there is potential for Japan-Colorado relations to develop even further.
Also, Attorney Kenzo Kawanabe, Denver City Human Rights and Community Partnerships Executive Director Derek Okubo, and Broomfield City and County Manager Charles Ozaki who attended the 2015 US-Japan Council Annual Conference in November, 2015 shared about Denver Mayor Hancock's attendance at the conference as well as the Council's activities in Colorado.
