Consul-General Ito Visits New Mexico (April 15 & 16, 2016)

On Friday and Saturday, April 15-16th, Consul-General Ito visited New Mexico and met with Mr. Chaouki Abdallah, Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of New Mexico (UNM) and also attended the Japan Festival in Santa Fe.
At the meeting with Provost Abdallah on the 15th, the Provost explained about UNM's science technology cooperation and exchange efforts with universities in Japan, and expressed the desire for a strengthened relationship with Japan. In response, Consul- General Ito said he would like to support the school in achieving stronger ties with Japan.
At the Santa Fe Japan Festival on the 16th, the Consul-General offered remarks during the opening ceremony in which he said he hopes the festival offers a deeper understanding of Japanese culture. There was a wide variety of Japanese culture and martial arts demonstrations, and this year featured a workshop by a Kyogen (Japanese traditional comedy) master from "Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan" delegation and dance performance by the Kabuki Academy from Seattle, WA.
