Consul-General attends Heart Mountain Interpretive Center 5th Anniversary Ceremony(July 29, 2016)

On Friday, July 29th, Consul-General Ito attended the 5th Anniversary Ceremony of the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, which is located at the Heart Mountain Relocation Camp site in Powell, Wyoming. Attending guests included many Japanese-Americans who contributed to the opening of the center, in addition to former Transportation Secretary Mr. Norman Yoshio Mineta, former U.S. Senator Alan Simpson (R-WY) and his wife, Mr. Cal Shintani from the National Japanese American Memorial Foundation, and Ms. Shirley Ann Higuchi, Chair of the Heart Mountain, Wyoming Foundation (HMWF). In his remarks, Consul-General Ito offered his respects toward the efforts of the Japanese-Americans involved in the opening of the center.
Prior to attending the ceremony, the Consul-General visited the relocation camp site and toured the Interpretive Center.
