2016 Spring Conferment Ceremony (September 14, 2016)

On Wednesday, September 14th, the 2016 Spring Conferment Ceremony was held in Salt Lake City, Utah where Consul-General Ito bestowed Dr. Jeanette Misaka (former  Governor of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) Intermountain District Council) with the imperial decoration of The Order of Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays. Dr. Misaka’s family and friends attended the ceremony, making it a warm event.
Consul-General Ito congratulated Dr. Misaka on her outstanding achievements as a leader in the Utah Japanese community and her contributions toward mutual understanding between Japan and America by preserving Japanese American history and popularizing Japanese culture. In response, Dr. Misaka said she was extremely honored to receive such a high award and thanked all the people who helped her over the years as she would not have been able to accomplish what she did without their support.
We would like to express our appreciation toward Dr. Misaka and her long years of contribution, and again offer our sincerest congratulations.
