On Thursday, November 17th, Consul-General Ito attended the 2016 Japan America Society of Colorado (JASC) Annual Banquet at the Denver Art Museum. JASC President Eric Hiraga commenced the banquet by reporting JASC’s activity followed by remarks from Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. The Mayor shared experiences such as when he visited Takayama City, Denver’s sister city in Gifu Prefecture when he was 16-years-old and his continued exchanges with his host family. He also referenced the special friendly relationship between Japan and the U.S. and hopes the relationship will continue to grow. Then Consul-General Ito gave his remarks in which he expressed his appreciation for JASC and Mayor Hancock’s contributions toward establishing friendly ties and wishes to cooperate more with affiliates to further develop Japan-U.S. and Japan-Colorado relations. This year’s theme was “Moving Toward Tomorrow’s City” with Japanese companies Panasonic Enterprise Solutions and Terumo BCT giving brief presentations. It was a lively event that symbolized the relationship between Japan and Colorado.
