Consul-General Hirakoba attends a ceremony for Sadako’s Paper Crane Donation at former Wendover Air Force Base (August 5, 2017)

On Saturday, August 5th, Consul-General Hirakoba attended a ceremony for Sadako’s Paper Crane Donation, held in the ‘Enola Gay’ hangar at former Wendover Air Force Base in Utah. “Sadako’s Paper Cranes” were folded by Ms. Sadako Sasaki while fighting fatal after effects caused by the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Sadako’s nephew, Mr. Yuji Sasaki, donated an original paper crane folded by Ms. Sadako Sasaki to the museum of Historic Wendover Airfield at the ceremony. An estimated 100 people attended the event.
