31st Colorado/Wyoming Japanese Speech Contest (November 4, 2017)

     On Saturday, November 4th, the 31st Colorado/Wyoming Japanese Speech Contest was held, co-hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver with the Colorado Japanese Language Educators Association (CJLEA), Japan America Society of Colorado, and Japan Foundation. The event allows grade school and college students from Colorado and Wyoming who are currently studying Japanese to showcase their language skills and knowledge about Japanese culture.
     The contest was very competitive with participants covering a wide range of themes such as differences in Japanese and American culture and lifestyle.
     For the closing ceremony, Consul-General Hirakoba offered remarks in which he praised the participants’ speeches.
