Dr. Laurel Rasplica Rodd receives Japanese Imperial Decoration (April 29, 2017)

On Saturday, April 29th, The Government of Japan announced the recipients of the 2017 Spring Japanese Imperial Decorations. From within the jurisdiction of the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver, Dr. Laurel Rasplica Rodd is a recipient of The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon. Dr. Rodd has contributed greatly toward promoting understanding about Japan and Japanese education in the U.S. During her 40-year career, she taught Japanese language at the University of Colorado Boulder, researched Japanese literature, was Executive Director of CU Boulder’s Center for Asian Studies from 2005 and President of the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ) from 1996.
As the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver, we express our appreciation toward Dr. Rodd for her many years of contributions and offer our sincere congratulations to her on her conferment.
