The Japan Imperial Decoration for Dr. Jeanette M. MISAKA

On Friday, April 29th, the Government of Japan has announced the recipients of Japan Imperial Decorations for Spring 2016. From within our jurisdiction, Dr. Jeanette MISAKA has been named to receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, and will be awarded a medal and diploma.

Dr. MISAKA has been a long-time supporter of the activities of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) Intermountain District Council and JACL Salt lake Chapter as the former Governor and former Co-President respectively, and has put forth great efforts for the advancement of Japanese-Americans. In particular, she has contributed significantly to preserving Japanese-American history through internment camp site preservation and through events relating to forced internment, as well as toward promoting sister city relations and Japan-U.S. exchanges. As Japanese Consulate, we truly appreciate Dr. MISAKA's valuable efforts over the years and would like to express our sincerest congratulations to her.
