“ABEYA” Tsugaru-Shamisen US Tour Celebrating the Japan-US Cherry Blossom Centennial

The Consulate-General of Japan at Denver and Arts & Venues Denver present ABEYA Tsugarau-Shamisen, celebrating the centennial anniversary of the gift of cherry blossom trees from Japan to the U.S. in 1912.
Highly acclaimed in Japan, the 6-member group features leader Hidesaburo Abe and his two sons, on a unique US tour to help promote US-Japan relations.
"Abeya" will appear in Denver to perform its signature Northern Japanese folk music featuring Tsugaru-Shamisen, a traditional stringed instrument, along with flute, percussion instruments and songs. The group combines traditional sounds with exciting creative musical blends reflecting modern sensibilities and energy of younger generations.
