Courtesy Call on Honorable Mayor Michael B. Hancock (1/27/2012)

 

Consul General paid a courtesy call on Honorable Mayor Hancock at his office in the City Hall on Friday, January 27.

 

Mayor Hancock, mentioning to the sister city relationship between Denver and Takayama City, referred to his experience of home stay when he was a high school student and said "Japan has a special place in my heart." Consul General expressed his appreciation to the assistance given by citizens of Denver after the Great East Japan Earthquake, last year.

 

He also introduced that they are cerebrating centennial anniversary of gift of cherry trees from Japan to the US and that many commemorative events are planned in Denver. Mayor Hancock responded that he was pleased to learn that the centennial anniversary events are to be held in Denver as well and asserted that the City of Denver would like to extend its cooperation towards the success of them.

 

Consul General and Mayor Hancock agreed that they work together on sister city exchanges and centennial anniversary events to deepen the friendship between Japan and Denver communities.
