Reception Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Denver Chapter 66 of Ikebana International (4/6/2012)
A reception celebrating the 50th anniversary of Denver's Chapter 66 of Ikebana International was held in Denver on Friday, April 6th.
Since its establishment in 1962, the local Chapter 66 has been promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Colorado, under the motto of Ikebana International, "Friendship through Flowers."
Splendid arts of Ikebana filled the venue with color, presented to celebrate this occasion by members of Chapter 66.
At the 50th anniversary reception, Mrs. Midori Allmeyer, President of Chapter 66, greeted and welcomed the guests. Mr. T.R. Reid, President of the Japan America Society of Colorado, also presented congratulatory remarks.
Following this, longtime members of the Chapter, including several original charter members went up to the stage and their contributions were acclaimed.
Then, Consul General Ikuhiko Ono proposed a kanpai-toast, announcing that Chapter 66 has been chosen to receive a distinguished Consul General's Award, in appreciation of the 50 years of their activities which have significantly contributed to promoting Japanese culture and Japan-US friendship in the Rocky Mountain Region.
All participants enjoyed friendly conversation Japanese culture on display in the artworks of Ikebana.
The Consulate General of Japan reiterates its sincere congratulations towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Ikebana International Chapter 66, and extends its wish for their continued activities towards furthering mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the US.
