The Commendation of the Consul General of Japan in Denver

The Consulate-General of Japan in Denver is pleased to announce that Mr. James Hada and the Colorado Japanese Language Education Association (CJLEA) have been named as recipients of The Commendation of the Consul General of Japan in Denver.

This award is a citation by the Consul General of Japan and is presented to honor respected citizens and organizations who have made exceptional contributions in areas such as the development of mutual understanding and friendly ties between nations, the promotion of international cooperation in economic relations, the encouragement of cultural exchange, and other various activities which enhance the relationship of our two countries.

Mr. James Hada is a longtime leader within the Japanese Association of Colorado (JAC) and served as the president. He has been instrumental in the development of the Japanese American community, contributing greatly to conserve and pass down the history and legacy of the local Japanese American community. Especially, he has played a leading role in preservation efforts at the site of the former Granada War Relocation Center (Camp Amache).

The Colorado Japanese Language Education Association, established in 1995, has contributed greatly through its promotion of Japanese language education to enhancing mutual understanding, friendship, and goodwill between Japan and Colorado, Wyoming and surrounding areas. In recent years, it has organized an annual Japanese language contest and also supported a Japanese language quiz competition (Japan Cup) hosted annually by the Japan America Society of Colorado.
