Ninth Annual Nihon Matsuri in Santa Fe, New Mexico (April 20, 2013)

Consul-General Ono and Mrs. Ono attended the Ninth Annual Nihon Matsuri in Santa Fe on April 20th, organized by Santa Fe JIN (Japan Intercultural Network). This event has been held annually by the Santa Fe JIN, which is a community group keen toward introducing Japanese culture in the local community. According to Santa Fe JIN, around 2,000 people attended this year’s festival, which featured Japanese traditional dance, Sado (Japanese tea ceremony), and Haiku demonstrations in the main venue, along with Kimono (Japanese traditional cloth) displays at another location. Those who came to the event were able to enjoy various aspects of Japanese culture throughout the day.
