Consul-General and Mrs. Ono attended 2013 Camp Amache Pilgrimage (May 18, 2013)

Consul General of Japan Ikuhiko Ono and his wife attended the Camp Amache Pilgrimage for 2013. This pilgrimage, held annually in May, was attended by about 60 people this year, mostly Japanese Americans from the Denver area. The highlight of the pilgrimage is a memorial service at the site, in memory of the 114 Japanese Americans who died while interned at Camp Amache. The site of the former intern camp (Granada Relocation Center) site is preserved and maintained by volunteers and students from nearby Granada High School. There is also a museum near the site which exhibits items related to lives of internees of the camp.
