Conferment Ceremony of the Commendation of the Consul General of Japan, to Mr. James Hada and the Colorado Japanese Language Education Association (May 25, 2013)
On Saturday, May 25, Consul General Ono and Mrs. Ono hosted a Conferment Ceremony of the Commendation of the Consul General of Japan at their residence.
Approximately 50 guests attended the ceremony. Recipients of the commendation were Mr. James Hada, a former president of the Japanese American Association of Colorado, and the Colorado Japanese Language Education Association (CJLEA), represented by its president Mrs. Kaoru Slotsve.
To begin the ceremony, the Consul General introduced the achievements of the recipients, then presented certificates of the Commendation along with commemorative gifts.
Afterwards Mr. James Hada made remarks stating his appreciation for the support from his friends that enabled his preservation efforts at the site of the former Granada War Relocation Center (Camp Amache).
Mrs. Kaoru Slotsve, President of CJLEA, expressed her hope that the CJLEA will continue to be a strong supporter in enhancing mutual understanding, friendship, and goodwill between Japan and Colorado, Wyoming and the surrounding area, through its promotion of Japanese language education.
Following the ceremony, special guest Mr. James Terada made a toast. The guests thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of the reception and had commemorative pictures taken.
