Japanese Sake Lecture and Tasting Event (September 21, 2013)

Consul General ONO’s visit to National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) (September 6, 2013)

The Consulate General of Japan in Denver and the Japan America Society of Colorado (JASC) co-hosted a lecture and tasting event on Japanese Sake at Sakura Square on September 21.  Mr. Chris Johnson was the invited special-guest lecturer, who lives in New York and has been recognized as one of the top sake sommeliers at international Sake tasting competitions.  The event was attended by around 40 people from the JASC and the Japanese American Resource Center of Colorado.  Mr. Johnson spoke about Sake in depth, including its history and brewing methods, followed by a Sake tasting for the attendees.  One of the available types of sake was made in Yamagata Prefecture, sister state of Colorado, and Mr. Johnson explained each Sake brand in detail. Some of the participants commented that this event was helpful to learn and understand about Sake and that their interest in the drink has increased.
