Japanese High School Students Visit Colorado Springs Under Kakehashi Project (January 21, 2014)

A welcome reception was held in Colorado Springs for 23 Japanese high school students from Akita Homei High School, who visited Colorado as part of the Kakehashi Project. The event was held at Pioneer Museum in Colorado Springs, on January 21st, 2014, and was hosted by Rampart High School which also had students visit Japan last July under Kakehashi. Consul General Ono attended the event along with about 100 people from the Colorado Springs area, including representatives from Congressman Lamborn’s office, the city mayor’s office, the Japan America Society of Southern Colorado, and the El Pomar Foundation. In response to such a warm local welcome, the Japanese students gave an excellent presentation introducing Japanese culture and society.
