Consul General ONO's attendance to the 68th Annual Community Memorial Day Service (May 26, 2014)
Consul General Ikuhiko Ono and his wife attended the 68th Annual Community Memorial Day Service commemorating Nisei (2nd generation Japanese American) Veterans, at Fairmount Cemetery on May 26th, 2014. This memorial service is held annually on Memorial Day in remembrance of Nisei military veterans who were members of 442nd Regiment during World War II. Mr. Ron Abo, whose father was a member of the 442nd, offered thoughts and remarks for the audience. He mentioned that achievements of Nisei veterans on the battlefield greatly contributed to the advancement of Japanese American respect in US society. Following that, the Consul General and his wife laid flowers together with members of various Japanese American groups.
